ITANAGAR, Aug 18: The officers and staff of Directorate of Research, in a condolence meeting here today, expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief on the premature demise of Koj Radhe, peon of the Directorate, and observed two minutes’ silence to pray for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Radhe breathed his last in a city hospital on August 17 after a prolonged illness.
Radhe, 49, is survived by his wife and a son.

The passing out parade was also attended by a host of senior ITBP officers. Impressive parade by the newly recruited soldiers, display of ITBP band, pipe band were some of the main highlights of the programme.
The passing out parade is conducted after the completion of recruit basic training.
It is a proud and momentous occasion not only for the trainees but also for the instructors who have toiled hard over the last 44 weeks to transform them into fully trained soldier.
The recruits were also administered the professional oath wherein they declare their oath of allegiance to the Constitution of India under the National flag and force color.
The Kimin RTC is one of three newly raised RTCs of ITBP.
Ashok Kumar Chhari, DIG is the first head of the lone institute of the force in NE region.
The prime responsibility of the institute is to impart basic training to the recruits of General Duty (GD).
ITANAGAR, Aug 18: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has extended its support to the movement of Anna Hazare.
AAPSU president Takam Tatung, in a release, urged every Arunachalee to extend support to Anna as he is fighting for the cause of billion Indians.
“Corruption would be checked to a certain level, if Lokpal bill is passed. The much awaited bill will come handy for a state like ours where corruption is rampant. Every one of us should come out and extend support to Anna,” stated Tatung.
He, however, criticized the double standard being maintained by national media over this whole issue.
“National media has made Anna Hazare a national hero. No doubt, he deserves appreciations from all as he is fighting for a great cause. But what about our own Irom Sharmila, the Manipuri women, who is on fast since last 10 years. She too is fighting for the people of North East,” said Takam Tatung. Her fight against draconian Armed Forces Special Power Act is going on for so many years. “But the national media has never highlighted the struggle of Irom. Why are they shying away from highlighting her agitation? Is her agitation is less significant than that of Anna Hazaree,? Tatung questioned.
AAPSU also urged State Government to check all forms of corruption in Arunachal Pradesh before it is too late. Otherwise, the sufferers would be our future generations, Tatung cautioned.
BWC organizes fire safety awareness prog
ITANAGAR, Aug 18: Bazar Welfare Committee (BWC), Naharlagun organized a fire safety awareness programme with help of Fire Station, Naharlagun today.
The team from the Fire Station, while providing some important tips and measures to prevent occurrence of fire, advised the shopkeepers to always keep fire extinguisher ready in their shops to prevent small fires from becoming large ones.

“The accident could have been prevented had there been a fire extinguisher,” BWC said and ,“That is why it is so important to have a fire extinguisher on hand, it added.

CRPF distributes sewing machines, bicycles to poor
Seppa, Aug 18: The 138Bn CRPF distributed sewing machines and bicycles to the poor ladies and students on the concluding day of its civic action programme organised at General Ground here yesterday.
MLA Tapuk Taku, who attended the valedictory function, commended the Commandant, 138Bn CRPF and his team for such noble initiatives for the economic upliftment of the people. He advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the machines.
Deputy commissioner Tope Bam, guest of honour, lauded the service of CRPF in maintaining law and order in the state since NEFA days.

Addressing the gathering, Bamang Tago, chairman, Arunachal Citizen Rights, exhorted the youths to shoulder national responsibility by exploiting their power in a positive way. He called for unity of all tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, irrespective of ethnic differences, in order to root out corruption from the state.
“Every democratic protest should have its logical conclusion”, added Tago.
Dr. Nani Bath, Associate Professor of Political Science, while highlighting the contents and meaning of Lok Pal Bill, advocated that in a country with strong democratic traditions there is a need for equally vibrant democratic institution or agency to check corrupt practices. He termed the spontaneous participation of students as a beginning of ‘democratic upsurge’ in Rajiv Gandhi University, which in turn will help democratise all institutions in the state. Social service conducted, committee appeals for improvement of road
ITANAGAR, Aug 18: The Dokum-
The committee said that the colony road was sanctioned in the year 1998 and since then there was no any renovation work till today. The colony committee has been repeatedly requesting the local MLA through memorandum to look into the road problem. But no any initiative has been taken by him to improve the condition of the road, DCWC lamented.
Besides, the committee approached the concern department like PWD and UD for renovation of the road but all of their requests fell into deaf ear.
Forum demands fulfillment of the basic requirements to be a medical college
ITANAGAR, Aug 18: Arunachal Pradesh Colleges’ Forum (APCF) along with All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) visited the North East Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital recently.
The Forum alleged that required books, laboratory equipments and experience faculty were not available in the college.
During their visit, it is also claimed to have found that the college was running without sufficient and experienced faculties, books and laboratory equipments. It rubbished the tall claim of the Principal of the College that his institute was among the top 5 colleges of the country. It said that the college has presently 11 faculties including guest faculties and most of them are only BHMS degree holders.
It demanded the college authority to fulfill the basic requirements of the medical college within August 30 failing which democratic movement would be launched by the Forum.

Modern education to every child is need of hour
Lack of access to quality education is preventing millions of people from escaping the cycle of extreme poverty around the world. Most of the 67.5 million children still out of school are amongst the poorest and hardest to reach. More than half of them are girls, and most are living in countries in conflict and in rural areas. Many of the children who do enroll in school are not graduating with even the most basic reading and math skills, often because their schools do not have enough teachers, books or facilities to provide a quality education. While many countries have opened school doors for millions in recent years by eliminating school fees, other costs such as uniforms and testing still prevent children from enrolling, and many poor families need their children (especially daughters) at home to help with chores including farming or collecting water.
Education not only provides children and families with a pathway out of poverty, but it can also yield even bigger returns for the world's poorest countries through its impact on areas such as health and the economy. Educated mothers, for example, are more likely to have smaller families, and have their children immunized and send them to school. Education can also provide families and countries with more economic opportunities and help promote the civic participation that is critical to building democracies. Despite all efforts, state of Arunachal too is struggling hard to provide quality education to its children. There are children living in far flung areas who are yet to get proper education. State govt need to put in more efforts to ensure that every children get access to best of modern education.

Dear Editor,
It’s bad to see the whole country getting fed up of corrupt practice in every walk of life. Though our fellow countrymen are fighting against corrupt system, denizens of our state prefer to remain silent on this issue. Are we really willing to act against corruption? I think the answer is may be big no. The main reason behind this is 80 per cent of earning populations in the state depend upon Govt. fund directly or indirectly and they are scared that if they raise strong voice against corruption then they are most likely to lose their source of extra income without worrying for future of their son and daughters.
Through this letter I would like to enlighten that your current status can’t dictate your children or grand children’s future. Let’s think out of box and think for brighter future.
If we see corruption as in general then it is problem associated with everybody let it be ministers, lower level bureaucracy or common man. The Govt. employee has to face corruption to get promote to higher level or to get transfer. Similarly Minister has to face corruption to get desired portfolio and sadly we commoners are worst sufferer of it and we commoners are made to pay huge price out of it. Whether it be securing Govt. job even if you are qualified enough or in getting the share of monthly ration.
The ministers at Centre say that Parliament is supreme and desperately trying to impose their version of Janlokhpal bill on us. I must admit that Parliament is supreme. Proposing and passing any bill rests on Parliament but they should try to identify whether their version of bill can address the grievances of public.
They blame Anna Hazare and his team of challenging the supremacy of Parliament. No one is challenging the supremacy of Parliament. The team Hazare is disappointed with way the minister tried to use their power and table Govt version of bill for debate in Parliament. We the ordinary citizen only wish if law maker can hear us and feel the pain that we commoner are going through and bring the law which is on public interest rather than just for name sake. The constitution says that “By the people and for the people”
Dear elected representatives what happen to this for the people part?
You are representative and voice of us then why you are not acting for public interest? Instead of serving public which you are meant for why you are trying to suppress the voice of citizen? Or shall we change its definition from by the people but for personel gain of elected representative? Especially I would like to ask representative from Arunachal to both Lok Sabha as well as Rajya sabha, where are you?
What’s your view on our interest? What you are doing for us? Have hardly seen you in public debate or something at Parliament? Can you hear us and answer us?
Lastly, I would like to urge citizens of Arunachal please cooperate this movement against corruption. It’s not for me, it’s not for you but for all of us, it’s for brighter tomorrow.
